Driftstone Consulting highlights the 1022 m² fire hall project, an innovative facility constructed with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) to the roof and post-disaster wood-framed trusses. Delivered under a Design-Bid-Build approach and nominated for the prestigious 2021 North American ICF Builder Awards, the fire hall features heated floors throughout as the primary heat source. Managed through winter conditions, the project required innovative solutions to maintain budget and schedule, including strategic heating and hoarding measures.
During construction, in-floor heat pipes were integrated into the ICF system to enable low-pressure heating during concrete pours, mitigating winter-related challenges. The project team capitalized on warmer days to accelerate the schedule, ensuring timely delivery. This achievement reflects the project’s technical complexity and showcases expertise in delivering resilient infrastructure through energy-efficient construction methods. The fire hall stands as an example of innovative winter construction management and high-performance building design, emphasizing Driftstone’s capability to implement cost-effective solutions for demanding projects.
